For Esker Loves Books Week, we made a special effort to read even more than we usually do.
We have been using the illustrations available on storybird.com to inspire our creative writing. We are making sure to include all the important elements of a good story. See the Creative Writing page for more!
We are keeping our learning active with our station work. We do both Maths and Literacy Stations twice a week. We complete different activities at four stations. After ten minutes, we rotate to the next one!
Don't forget to keep an eye on our Creative Writing page for examples of our lovely work. We've added some poems inspired by Michael Rosen's On the Train.
Even Sonic has been reading lots in Second Class Red! We found him reading this book about the ocean today!!! We are bringing books home from our class library and adding them to our reading logs.
We have been playing Synonym Snap during literacy stations. How many synonyms can you find for the word 'big?'
Remember, you can play these interactive spelling games at home by downloading them at the following link: http://www.prim-ed.com/webshop/downloads. You can play these games on your computer or tablet. They're a fun way to reinforce new vocabulary and spelling patterns!
We used a picture of the moon landing to inspire some creative writing, while in Drama we imagined that we had arrived on a distant planet and had to communicate with aliens without a common language. The audience then had to guess what the original message was.
Since it is Science Week this week, our word of the week is 'experiment.' We hope to take part in lots of Science experiments this week. Experimenting helps us to learn!
