On Tuesday 12th May, we hosted Science Day. We invited our parents to come and see some of the experiments that we have done in class.
We set up the school hall so that there were 6 stations. Each station had a different experiment at it, as well as some 2nd Class experts whose job was to demonstrate how the experiment worked to parents and encourage them to give it a go themselves. We chose to use the following experiments– Balloon Rockets, Paper Helicopters, Hovercrafts, Acrobatic Clowns and ‘Navigate the Maze,’ in which the parents had to try to guide a marble through a maze of unifix cubes using a straw. We also thought we should show them some of the two player maze games that we have made in Scratch.
Because there were so many parents in the hall, we asked them to move around when they heard a bell– just like how we rotate for our station activities in class! The parents were the students– and they were being taught by their children!! It was great fun!
