We have been using the illustrations available on storybird.com to inspire our creative writing. We are making sure to include all the important elements of a good story. See the Creative Writing page for more!

We are keeping our learning active with our station work. We do both Maths and Literacy Stations twice a week. We complete different activities at four stations. After ten minutes, we rotate to the next one!
We made these lovely clay tiles. We experimented with rolling, flattening, pinching and cutting the clay. We also experimented with lollipop sticks and matchsticks in order to create relief in our clay.
Don't forget to keep an eye on our Creative Writing page for examples of our lovely work. We've added some poems inspired by Michael Rosen's On the Train.
Having fun at activity centres! This week, our centres include role play, Tarsias, free writing and Play Dough.
We wrote secret messages with invisible ink! We used lemon juice to write our messages. When it dries, it is invisible unless we hold it up to the light. As Eternity suggested, maybe we could use invisible ink to write in our diaries!!!
We learned about Morse code. Morse code uses flashes of light or clicks to send a message. Letters are represented by up to four dots and dashes. Aisling brought in a machine to help us understand. When we listened to the clicks, we could tell what letter was being sent! We were even able to 'write' hello using Morse code.
In ancient Egypt, over 5000 years ago, scribes wrote things down using pictures. These pictures were called hieroglyphics. We wrote our names using hieroglyphics!!
As suggested by Maciej, we made giant paper planes! It was great fun working as a team to fold our planes. Science is all about learning from mistakes. We needed stronger card for testing on such a windy day!!
